On the 27th September 2017 we are delighted to hold our 7th Charity Golf Day "The Colin Adey Open"
at the prestigious Thorpe Hall Golf Club.
In Memory of Dr Colin Adey

Dr Adey was a practicing GP in the Southend area for over 30 years and latterly acted as chairman of the Southend Primary Care Trust from its inception in 1999 until 2005. He was a self-confessed workaholic and avid Rotarian always serving others above himself. Above all Dr Adey enjoyed sharing his talent with everyone. Never denying a friend an opinion or give advice, he always had time for people. Westcliff Rotary Club (to which Dr Adey was a long standing member) are honouring his services to the community and as a friend for our charity golf event.

This year the major beneficiary will be the ‘Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation, “For Wards” appeal, which aims to raise £500,000 for 20 transformational projects across 20 different areas of Southend Hospital. As well as funding life-saving Medical equipment and pioneering new technology, the Appeal will fund patient-friendly artwork and amenities to keep patient comfort and wellbeing at the heart of the hospital. Twenty years after starting, they are incredibly proud to have reached this milestone and look forward to the next 20 years. Areas of the Hospital where support will be intended are:

Neonatal Unit Urology Chemotherapy Unit Audiology Brachytherapy
Haematology High Dependency Unit Paediatrics Endoscopy Surgery

The format of the day will follow that which has worked well in previous years. From midday (1st Tee Time) teams of three will compete on full handicaps over 18 holes with Stableford scoring. There will be numerous prizes including the chance to win a fantastic prize to the value of £5000 for a Hole in One on the par 3 13th.

A welcome bacon butty and coffee upon arrival in the morning will be followed by a two course dinner (main & desert) after play has ended at 6.30pm. All of this will be included in the entry fee and prizes will be announced in the early evening including the presentation of the “Dr Colin Adey Memorial Trophy” to the overall individual winner.  As always, there will be a raffle with excellent prizes to win.

The cost will be £147 for a team of three but don’t worry if you cannot make a team up, we will be happy to accept individual entries at £49 per player. In addition we are always grateful that so many members of Thorpe Hall Golf Club play on our Charity Day and are pleased to offer them entry at £20 discount per head on their entry fee.

Sponsorship

There are numerous opportunities for sponsoring various aspects of the day and we would be delighted to provide information on request.  Sponsors’ details will be displayed on a rolling basis on a large screen in the Club House and literature can be distributed on the tables. We are also happy to put company logos on the Rotary Club of Westcliff’s website (for a period of one year) with a hyperlink to company’s own websites if required. For those wishing to sponsor the “hole in one” or any other hole on the course, plaques will be displayed prominently.  Donations of prizes (goods or services) to the raffle will also be gratefully received. Contact us for more details. westcliff.rotary@yahoo.com
